Half Day Preschool (Morning and Afternoon)
Our half day preschool program offers morning (9:15-11:45 a.m.) and afternoon (12:45-3:15 p.m.) classes for children ages 3-5 years. Half day preschool offers children a positive group experience and prepares children for kindergarten. Three-year olds attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays while four- and five-year olds attend on Monday, Wednesday, Friday to prepare them for Kindergarten. Preschool follows the school district calendar and classes are held September through May. Children participate in structured and creative learning environments designed by a licensed early childhood teacher. Science, pre-reading skills, math, creative dramatics, art, cooking, and movement blend to make a total school readiness program.
The all day preschool program offers full and part time care for children ages 3 to 5 years, year round. It is open Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Licensed early childhood teachers and assistant teachers provide a quality, caring, and creative environment for the growing needs of preschoolers. All Day preschool is a mixed age class with a developmentally appropriate style. Activities are offered daily to enhance fine motor, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development as well as prepare children for Kindergarten.
Preschool enrichment includes learning opportunities throughout the school year for children ages 3-5 years. Tyke Time is a preschool summer playground program for children ages three through five years.
Early Childhood Screening
Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how children are doing between the ages of 3 to 4 years. It identifies, at an early stage, possible learning or health concerns so that children can get the help they need before starting school. Early Childhood Screening is required for entrance into kindergarten in a Minnesota public school. Residents of St. Anthony-New Brighton School District will be screened at the St. Anthony Community Center, 3301 Silver Lake Road, St. Anthony. To schedule a screening please call, 612-706-1166.
The Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) Advisory Council meets monthly from September to May to advise the Early Childhood staff and Community Services Advisory Council regarding ways to enrich the services provided to families and children. The Advisory Council is mandated by the Department of Education. It is the philosophy of St. Anthony-New Brighton Community Services to encourage parent involvement and representation from all early childhood programs. Childcare is provided at no charge during the meetings. If you are interested in joining the ECFE council, call 612-706-1166.
